Another thematic mix in honor of the creepiest day of the year...most of the selections are like auditory snapshots of heartache, desperation, death and murder...i love the dark soundscape and the beautiful despair that the music transmits...

I was so tempted to delve into my extensive cd collection to find some of this week's tunes...i have such a large selection of moody and gothic music...but i resisted the temptation and used creative commons tracks for this program as well...i'm glad i did, because i am so happy with the selection of songs...i hope you enjoy them as well...

for years...have never tired of them...they are an amazing transport by music! They may be a bit hard to purchase these days, but they are definitely worth the import price!! Check ebay if all else fails...

My mix is not so sophisticated or expertly compiled...but I think it's pretty enjoyable...Buckle up and prepare for lift-off...

There is A LOT of music out there...most of it is merely drivel, but, if you look for it, there is some OUTSTANDING work to be found...for the seekers.

This podcast features some newer artists that i've been hearing about lately...and a few better established musicians that can still be found treasures to a fresh ear. So listen alertly and buy what you like at your area independant record store.

I did just that yesterday and walked away with a large stack of music. I purchased two artists featured on today's podcast; i bought The Like - "are you thinking what i'm thinking",and Trespassers William - "different stars". I also bought the newest efforts by Antony and the Johnsons, Cursive, Lemon Jelly and Sigur Ros, as well as On! Air! Library!...i purchased the newest sinead the other day and am still trying to figure out what i think about it...her voice is amazing as always...but a whole album of reggae?? i've been previewing the new liz phair and fiona apple to see if they are worthy...

So $80 later and i've been listening to free and legal tracks from the internet all morning...kind of like the little kid playing with the box on christmas day, eh?

Enjoy these very affordable, and i must say, high quality tracks...but buy what you like when you can...in the mean time, these should tide you over.

Hello again! Thanks for your interest in the podcast and for visiting my blog.

This week's program is a high-energy groove-driven carnival ride of a music mix! There are some great tunes featured in this podcast and a couple really exceptional cuts by some pretty obscure international bands. It just amazes me how much high quality, original music there is out in the world..and the internet really makes it easy to explore globally. I am constantly coming across some new band or artist hidden way below the mainstream...or I should say above, shouldn't I? The music on my local radio is hideous!! So much of it sounds the same and is really pitiful...I have discovered some great podcasts, though...and there are some impressive web radio shows and satellite radio stations that I am just now discovering...so perhaps the medium is not quite as stagnant as I thought.

This program, as I mentioned above, really showcases some heavier, groovier tracks than I've played in my previous podcasts. For some reason, I find myself usually playing introspective, depressing stuff...some days I just have to make myself put on some brain-less pop and jump around with a hairbrush to cheer myself up! The tracks on this program are anything but brainless...lyrically and melodically speaking, most are quite intelligent in spite of being a catalyst for some very unsophisticated "head-banging"...

Please leave comments or suggestions on the site...I would love to hear from you! According to feedburner stats, my listener numbers are better than I anticipated for a brand new show...I hope that means I'm not wasting my time in getting the "sound out" for some great musicians! Please remember that I make the effort to find legal, creative commons tracks to respect those hard-working artists. Enjoy...and please KEEP LISTENING!
